My name is Taylor DeBoer and I was born in Tulare, a small agricultural town in central California. I currently manage social media accounts for an acupuncture practice, conduct fitness and nutritional research to build social media content for Mind Muscle Spirit, manage my personal health and wellness blog, and am a fitness model.

I discovered my passion for fitness when I was 15 years old and decided to get into running after my father passed away. He enjoyed running and always tried to get me to join him for a run. I began to get into long distance running and ran my first half marathon a few years later. Since then I have gotten into other areas of fitness such a weight training and spinning. I began to see a big change in my body when I started weight training, and saw even bigger results when I started working with a trainer. After training with my trainer, Judy, for about 9 months she asked me if I would ever be interested in competing in a bikini show and I thought why not! I already enjoyed working out so why not work toward a bigger goal?

After going through all the preparations for my first show I definitely think I would compete in another show. I already lead a pretty healthy and active lifestyle so I didn’t feel that I had to make too many drastic changes to get ready for the show. I think the hardest part of all the preparation was drinking a gallon and a half of water a day!

Going into my first show I am excited, nervous, and confident. Excited because I have never done anything like this before, and I think it will be a fun experience. Nervous because I have never done a show before so I don’t entirely know what to expect. Confident because I have had a great coach helping me prepare for the show that I know I will be pleased in my performance.
Transitioning my mind from regular training to contest prep mode was a little challenging. I had to make my mentality about confidence in order to look comfortable walking on stage.

When I would practice posing I noticed the days that I didn’t feel as confident about myself I would not seem as comfortable doing the poses. When my confidence was there I felt and looked more natural.

Health and nutrition haven’t always come easy for me. When I was in high school and my early years of college I struggled with an eating disorder. I would run 10 miles every day all while eating just a bag of nuts or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich all day. I was afraid to eat and didn’t realize the importance of eating to staying lean and strong. I was able to overcome this challenge by educating myself on nutrition and how to properly nourish your body. I read a lot of books on eating unprocessed foods, which also taught me the importance of eating wholesome foods. This knowledge was my foundation for rebuilding a healthy lifestyle to accompany my love for fitness.
